Welcome
to the cradle of the musketeers, of Henry IV, of the fat ducks, of
Armagnac and the famous
Bordeaux wines. Based
in a rural location, our house is a haven of tranquillity, but
still only 8 minutes drive from Casteljaloux, a pretty market town, with
shops, restaurants, cafés, swimming pools, lake, golf course, etc...
The
region has so much to offer, there is so much to see and do! It will
be our pleasure to help you pick places of interest and provide you
with touristic documentation.
Le
Gargantua is run since July 2007 by ourselves, French wife Marlène and British husband
Marc (with the participation of our daughter Elise), at the 1850 farmhouse
we renovated. We arrived from Calais (North of France) to Anzex in 2004
after falling in love with the house, the region, the South-West
laid-back way of life and its food. It represented the ideal place to
start a family, leaving behind the rat race and the grey skies.
We cannot wait to share with you our little
paradise. We now raise a few chickens, turkeys, ducks,
geese and guinea fowls, which are used in the cooking courses... it can't get
fresher than this!
Your
holiday is "à la carte": you can choose to join us for a cooking
holiday, or for hunting or fishing if you fancy a
bit of action. The activities are completely informal and are designed
to suit the needs of participants of all levels. Should your busy
schedule only allow you to take a few days off, you can also indulge
in a short break, romantic to be pampered, gastronomic,
cooking or wine tasting to stimulate your tastebuds. Or
if you just cannot decide which activity to pick, you can pick your
mix, and create your own customized holiday. But of course, you can also
use our guest house as B&B accommodation only, and organise your
holiday at your own pace.
